Ingredients

One pound of bacon

One chopped onion

One package (16 ounces) of egg noodles

One head of sliced cabbage

To taste, add salt and ground black pepper.

With a pair of scissors, chop the bacon into small pieces. Cook in a large skillet over medium heat until crisp, stirring frequently, about 10 minutes. After about five more minutes of cooking and stirring, remove the bacon and onion and set them aside, leaving the drippings in the skillet.

Heavily salted water in a large saucepan should be brought to a boil. Cook the egg noodles in the boiling water for about five minutes, stirring now and then, until they are cooked through but still firm to the biting. Empty.

While the noodles are cooking, transfer the bacon and onion mixture with their drippings to the pot and heat, stirring, until the cabbage is covered with the drippings. Cook the cabbage, covered, stirring occasionally, for 10 to 12 minutes, or until it is soft. Add noodles and season to taste, stirring gently.
